ESA PHI-LAB IRELAND OPEN CALL 2026 INFORMATION WEBINAR

ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Open Call

Applications for the ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Open Call 2026 are now being accepted. Please familiarise yourself with the Application Procedure, the Open Call Deadlines, and the Technical Needs Assessment opportunity. 

ESA Phi-Lab Ireland invites all interested and qualifying parties to submit research ideas that align with the following focused topic areas:

  • Advanced Materials Research

  • Design Optimisation

  • Additive Manufacturing

  • Structural Analysis and Simulation

  • Optimisation of Production Processes

  • Integration of Smart Materials


ESA Phi-Lab Ireland supports projects from established economic operators, proposing innovative science and technologies with high commercial potential. Applicants must demonstrate that their research activity can deliver a benefit to  Ireland.

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1 - Download the Application Documentation

If you are interested in applying for the ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Open Call 2026, please start by downloading the Open Call Document, and the other associated Application Documentation below. Using these documents, and the accompanying FAQ section on the ESA Phi-Lab Ireland website, please ensure that your organisation and your research proposal idea meet the requirements of the Open Call.

Step 1.1 - (Optional) ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Matchmaking 2026 Form

Step 2 - Complete the ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Registration and Technical Needs Assessment Request Form

It is a requirement of applicants to contact ESA Phi-Lab Ireland prior to applying to discuss the scope of your project, as well as the fit with the objectives. Lead applicants are invited to complete the ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Registration and Technical Needs Assessment Request Form.

Step 2.1 - (Optional) Submit your Technical Needs Assessment

The Technical Needs Assessment is provided by email further to completion of the ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Registration and Technical Needs Assessment Request Form. Applicants must submit their Technical Needs Assessment form to info@esaphilab.ie to avail of this opportunity. Unfortunately, late applications for this opportunity cannot be accommodated.

The deadline for completed Technical Needs Assessment Forms is 17 July 2026.

Step 3 - Submit your Application

After the submission deadline, each submitted proposal will be evaluated by two Boards - the Tender Opening Board (TOB) and the Tender Evaluation Board (TEB). Applications passing the TOB will be invited to give a research project presentation and a project related Q&A at the ESA Phi-Lab Ireland TEB. 

The Closing Date for the submission of all Application Documentation is 08 September 2025.

Please submit the Application Documentation in electronic form (pdf, maximum one file) to the following email address info@esaphilab.ie with the subject “ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Open Call 2026”. All applications received in advance of the closing time and date will be acknowledged within one business day.
